Linscott papers, 1653-1922.

Documents and notes on the history of Malden and Melrose, Mass., presumably gathered by Artemas Barrett for the writing of a local history. The papers contain documents related to a boundary question between Malden and Stoneham, Mass.; deeds to land in Malden; papers relating to the incorporation of the town of Melrose; and accounts of town meetings in Malden and Melrose. Also included is genealogical information on the Barrett, Lynde, and Sprague families; a schoolbook and other papers of Phineas Sprague; a daily journal of Jonathan Green, a farmer of Malden; and a history of the schools in Malden, probably written by Barrett.
